This is a group for homeschoolers who are preparing to transition into adulthood. It’s appropriate for college-bound students as well as students who are exploring alternatives to college.
In the fall semester we’ll talk about preparing college applications, understanding student loans, resume-writing, interviewing, finding internships, alternatives to college, how to speak professionally to professors and employers, college culture, work culture, and finding balance and focus as a young adult.
In the spring semester, we'll focus on writing the college application essay as well as other types of writing you'll do in college, including how to write a research paper.
You may enroll in both semesters or take them separately.
Outside work:
Fall: Optional videos on the college application process.
Spring: Optional writing assignments that you can workshop with the group.
Details:
Suggested age range: 13+. Eighth grade is not too young! We’ll spend a lot of time talking about how the choices you make in high school impact your options later, so this is a great group to join when you’re still deciding what kind of high schooler you want to be. For older students, it’s a helpful guide to the application process itself.
