“Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful” -Rita Dove
This course takes students into the political, personal, impactful, and genre-defining process of creating original poetry and spoken word pieces. We’ll explore different types of poetry, dive deep into themes that will challenge students to reflect on themselves and the world around them, and create something new and exciting together every week! A blend of writing, visual art, and spoken performances, students will get the chance to find their place in the spectrum of poetry and spoken word, and learn new ways to use the power of their voice to express their truth.
